With high-rise buildings springing up one after another in cities, high-speed elevators are becoming increasingly popular. It is often heard that taking a high-speed elevator can cause dizziness and nausea. So, how can one take a high-speed elevator most comfortably and safely?

The lifting speed of a passenger elevator is usually around 1 meter per second, while that of a high-speed elevator is faster than 1.9 meters per second. As the elevator rises or descends, passengers are exposed to a significant pressure difference in a very short time, which can cause discomfort in their eardrums and even temporary deafness. People with hypertension or heart disease may also experience dizziness and a heavy head. At this time, methods such as opening the mouth, massaging the root of the ear, chewing a piece of gum or even chewing empty can all regulate the adaptability of the eardrum to changes in external air pressure and relieve the pressure on the eardrum.

In addition, when taking the elevator in daily life, there are some matters that need special attention: If the power supply is interrupted due to sudden reasons and passengers are trapped in the elevator car, the car usually stops at a non-flat position. Passengers must not be nervous. They should notify the elevator maintenance personnel to come for rescue through the alarm device inside the car or other feasible methods. Under no circumstances should they try to open the car door or the safety window on the top of the car to escape.

Before taking the elevator, passengers should make sure that the elevator car is parked on their floor. They must not blindly step in to prevent the floor door from being open but the car is not on the floor and falling into the hoistway.

If the floor door remains closed after pressing the elevator button, you should wait patiently. Do not try to open the door lock, nor play and frolic in front of the floor door to avoid breaking it open.

When entering or exiting the elevator, do not move too slowly and avoid stepping on the floor and the car for a long time.

On a strong thunderstorm day, it is best not to take the elevator unless there is an emergency. This is because the elevator machine room is usually located at the highest point on the roof. If the lightning protection device malfunctions, it is easy to attract lightning.

In addition, when a fire breaks out in a high-rise building, it is absolutely forbidden to take the elevator downstairs. People carrying flammable and explosive items such as gas, oil, alcohol and firecrackers should not take the elevator up and down the stairs either.
